Many of my favorite artists have created self portraits. Helmut Newton would take photographs with his models, Hitchcock would place himself in his own films, Picasso would paint self portraits. In contrast to the fast paced world of fashion and beauty photography in New York City, which involves elaborate planning and a whole team to execute the shoot. My personal work leans toward the classic and simple artist - muse scenario. I enjoy the simplicity and authenticity that comes from working with just the nude model... no hair, makeup, styling, art directors or clients on set. Pure collaboration between photographer and model. The photographs created are for us and express agreed on ideals of beauty and intimacy. This series of collaborative self portraits are made in the afterglow of these successful nude shoots.
When the shoot is over and we both will go our separate ways, it’s the final photograph to cap off a day of inspiring hard work that serves as a memento of this process.
